Obsessions
Good evening, Doctor,
a friend advised me to your site (for which I congratulate). I am writing to request information. For some time I have some ideas and do things that I find it difficult to stop. Here's an example: in the evening, turn the key to close the gas, get out of the kitchen then I doubt it not properly closed, then return to control a two or three times. In the morning I go to the bathroom and I have to repeat certain actions like washing my hands teeth hair a number of times otherwise I do not feel clean. I feel I'm getting worse. I started as a joke these things so now I have to use it otherwise I'm quiet. What can I do? The doctor told me I have obsessions. And 'fixable thing? Thanks for the reply.
Dear User,
it is not uncommon that the mind plays tricks when "abuse" of its processes (reasoning, calculations, thoughts, etc..). And 'the case of obsessive-compulsive disorder, a type that occurs in front of a fear is not dominated or avoided (eg. Afraid of having a panic attack, afraid that something bad might succedre, fear of not having done well one thing etc..). The person begins to perform the rituals that appear to be effective in combating this fear (decontamination washing more or less intense, repeated endlessly mental formulas, numerical calculations, prayers, unusual repetitive behaviors). The execution of these rituals ll'illusione gives control of fear but because of this "beneficial" effect of starting soon the person becomes a slave to these actions until you get to can not do more for less. This is how obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
The literature offers various explanations about the nature and causes of the disorder, but I prefer to get straight talk about solutions. His problem is solved, most likely in a short time, using a protocol specific, targeted psychotherapy. Do not hesitate to contact me for any information. In the meantime, I offer my best wishes.
