Panic attacks and therapy

Hello are F. from Perugia, I have anxiety and panic attacks for a year almost every day, sometimes I can not even go to college. From what I read on his site I think I understood that there is a solution. How does it work? Can you solve a problem of panic so severe? Thanks for the reply.

F. Gentile, I can reassure you, there is an effective and definitive. Panic disorder (category of anxiety disorders, DSM IV TR) is treated under a specific psychotherapeutic intervention. The treatment, an average of 10 sessions, has success rates exceeding 90%, without resorting to drug therapy. For background on the model adopted reference to the following articles:

When fear becomes a problem

Fear, in itself, is not a problem nor a sign of pathology, at least until it exceeds a certain threshold beyond which it can determine a "block" rather than "push" to deal with a situation. Many believe that fear is something negative, a sign of weakness or insecurity, but it is useful and sometimes essential because it gives us the measure of the importance of our challenges, such allertandoci facing a potential danger. Therefore, we always remember that fear is useful and effective when it becomes the predominant factor binding and in our actions.

How long of a psychological treatment?

Thank you for the question that gives me the opportunity to clarify an important point, often considered the subject of confusion: the concept of "care" in psychology.

The term "treatment" refers jargon belonging more to medicine than to psychology. Usually we speak of "cure" when there is an illness, organ dysfunction, in psychology, and more specifically in the field of psychological problems, there is no disease to cure, there are only problems to be solved.

That said, I answer your question. The timing of a psychological intervention vary depending on the problem to be solved, the practice adopted by the professional and the type of customer response to therapy. In ordinary conditions, except for specific cases that require investigation and built ad hoc strategies, psychotherapy lasts an average of 10-15 sessions. I hope to have them answered.

Stalking, harassing harassment: they are now punishable
